My inspiration for the hats

I was asked by the mother of a girl with hydrocephalus if I would be interested in making hats for patients with hydrocephalus to wear after surgery. Michaela is a daugher, a sister, a friend, a cheerleader, an inspiration and also happens to have hydrocephalus. She is 12 years old and has already had well over 100 surgeries. If I can do anything to help Michaela and other girls like her to feel better after surgery, than I am happy to help.

There are pictures of a few styles of hats listed below. In the future we most likely will be adding headbands to the selection as well so make sure to check back for new items. You can choose any color or combination of colors. You can use the paypal button on the side to order. Please choose your style, color(s) and size. For size just specify if it is for an adult, a youth, a toddler or an infant. Once you enter your payment information in paypal there will be a place to send notes/special instructions to the seller. Please use this area to enter your shipping address and any instructions/requests for the hat. Please be as specific as possible with the colors you want and how to use them, if you want any embellishments/accessories, and any other information you want to give me. I will be charging $20/hat to cover the cost of the yarn, supplies and shipping. Any profit made off of the sale of the hats/headbands will be donated to Stars Kids - please click their logo on the side of the blog to read more about them. If you want to order more than one hat or headband, I have set up the paypal button on the side so that you can add multiple items to your cart at once. Remember to be specific about your colors, if you want stripes, embellishments, etc. If you are not comfortable with ordering through paypal, please email me with your request and I will give you an address where you can mail a check.

I hope to be able to do the hats pretty quickly, but depending on how many requests I get I will let you know at the time of your order approximately how long it will be until you receive your hat(s).

Hat Styles

Here are the styles of the hats. The possibilities are endless with color, accessories, etc. so please be specific when making your request. If you have a favorite outfit that you want a hat to coordinate with, send me a picture and I'll do my best. Also, there are so many other styles of hats, so if you don't see something you like or you have something else in mind please ask and I'll let you know if I can do it.

Style 1 - Floppy felted hat - shown with flower

Style 2 - Beanie hat

Shown 2 ways: 1 - felted with stripes, 2 - regular crochet with brim up and feathers

Style 3 - Brimmed hat

This hat is great for spring and summer because it has an "open stitch" and will not be as hot.

Style 4 - the "Snood" - shown striped (this style can also be made solid and with lighter yarn)
** It does lay flatter on a person's head**

Not just for people with dreadlocks. This style hat has been seen recently on celebrities such as Hilliary Duff, Heidi Klum and the girls from The Hills.
